Dear Lord Jesus,
You who hung on the cross and said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do,”
I come before You today with a heart that struggles to let go of pain, betrayal, and anger.
Lord, I know that forgiveness is not always easy—
Especially when the wounds are deep, the memories are painful, and justice feels far away.
But I also know that You have forgiven me time and time again—
Patiently, mercifully, and without limits.
So, Jesus, I ask for Your strength today.
Help me to lay down my pride, my bitterness, and the desire for revenge.
Fill me with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.
Teach me to forgive—not because they deserve it, but because You have forgiven me.
Soften my heart where it has grown hard.
Heal the places that still ache with the weight of the past.
And give me the courage to love those who have hurt me—
Not with my own strength, but through the power of Your grace.
Let my forgiveness not be a feeling, but a decision—
A step of obedience and freedom.
Free me, Lord, from the prison of unforgiveness,
And restore my soul with the joy that comes from walking in Your ways.
I surrender this burden into Your hands, Jesus.
Help me to forgive, just as You have forgiven me.
Amen.
